About the Speakers

Dr. Charles Greenwood has been teaching and conducting research with children, youth, and families in at risk communities since 1987. His work focuses on community-engaged research, the impacts of poverty and disability on development, behavioral and academic interventions and technology applications for which he has received more than $1 million in research grants. Greenwood has published over 20 books and more than 200 research publications and has mentored over 60 post-doctoral associates, many now contributing scientists and field leaders.

Dr. Judith Carta has been awarded over $1 million for research in the areas of developing evidence-based intervention practices, multi-tiered systems of support to promote children’s language, literacy, and social-emotional outcomes, and validating parenting interventions focused on vulnerable populations and their effects on young children. She has numerous publications and awards and serves as a co-PI on the nation-wide Bridging the Word Gap Research Network.
